There is a particular quality of light in the Val d'Orcia that painters have chased for centuries — a warm amber that turns the rolling hills into liquid gold. Charlotte and James discovered it on a trip through Tuscany two years before their wedding, and knew instantly this was where their story would unfold. The celebration spanned three days. A welcome dinner in the olive groves, the ceremony at a 12th-century Romanesque chapel, and a grand feast under a canopy of fairy lights strung between hundred-year-old cypresses. Every dish was sourced within ten kilometres of the venue.

The challenge of a countryside celebration is infrastructure. We brought in generators camouflaged in greenery, built a temporary kitchen that could serve a five-course meal to 120 guests, and coordinated shuttle services from four surrounding hotels. The result was a weekend that felt effortlessly rustic — an illusion that required extraordinary effort to maintain.

The rolling hills, the golden light, the incredible food — our guests still talk about it a year later. It felt like living inside a Renaissance painting.
